Shred Girls for Bike Clubs: A favorite of mountain bike clubs and BMX parks, the Shred Girls books are a great way to get girls inspired to ride more! (There’s a reason NICA clubs have bought them in bulk to share with new young women riders.) Teams and clubs regularly bring author Molly Hurford to practices and virtual chats to talk about all things cycling—we can have a proper book club chat about the trials and tribulations that Lindsay, Ali and Jen experience, of course, but we can also chat about all things bike-related… even the awkward stuff that can be kinda hard to bring up with your coach, like if you should be wearing underwear with your bike shorts! Think of this as a cozy chat with a cool cousin who has a lot of advice to share (and some really embarrassing stories she doesn’t mind telling!)
Shred Girls for Non-Cyclists: For non-cycling groups, the Shred Girls books can still make for a great book club—we recommend the upcoming Lindsay and the Curse of Gemini Lakes, since it takes place at a multi-sport camp, but any of the books are, at their core, about finding a movement that makes your heart sing, learning about friendship, and blazing your own path.
Sprinting Through Setbacks Book Club with Author and Olympian Micha Powell: Join author and Olympian Micha Powell and learn how to bust through any obstacle—Sprinting Through Setbacks isn’t just about racing really fast on the track, it’s about facing life head-on and doing what’s right for you, not what’s right for everyone else. Whether your athletes are struggling with low motivation, imposter syndrome, or having trouble balancing school and sport, Micha’s book will help them refocus and recommit—and a chat with Micha is like sipping a quadruple espresso when it comes to pick-me-ups!
Athlete’s Guide to Sponsorship Book Club: If you’re a coach working with athletes who are about to take the next step in their careers, shifting from high school to college, graduating college, or shifting from junior to U23 or U23 to elite and are hoping to continue in their sport, this is a great book and virtual session to bring to the team. Molly Hurford, author of The Athlete’s Guide to Sponsorship, has been working in the running and cycling industries for nearly 20 years, racing at the elite level for over a decade. In this book, she shares tips for crafting a race resume that will actually get looked at by brands, how to write an email (and who to send it to) and even some budgeting tips for making it as a solo pro.
BOOKING WINTER 2025 Power Up Book Club + Athlete Nutrition Session with Stevie Lyn Smith, RD: Get ready to Power Up your team with our Young Woman’s Guide to Winning with Sports Nutrition! We highly recommend booking the virtual session with our author Stevie Lyn Smith, RD, especially if you’re a coach of a girls’ team. The book is packed with useful tips for fueling, from all day meal advice and a breakdown of things like macros and micronutrients, plus tons of advice on fueling training and competition optimally—all through the lens of young women athletes, who have different needs than their male counterparts and even compared to adult women. But every sport will have specific needs and tricky things to contend with, so the book in combination with a live session with Stevie is the perfect way to help your young women learn about nutrition and then really dig into the specifics that they need in order to thrive. (This is a fantastic deal for teams, by the way—registered dietitians often charge much more for sessions like this with teams, but we want to reach as many young women as possible so we’re making it affordable!)
BOOKING FALL 2025 Mirror Diaries Book Club with Vanessa Coulbeck: Vanessa Coulbeck is a recent Master’s graduate in sport and exercise psychology where her work has focused on self-compassion, body image and physical activity promotion for young girls. She is also a dynamic leader in youth empowerment and social impact initiatives. The Mirror Diaries: Finding Grace invites readers into the heart of junior high through the lens of Grace’s diary. Grace is navigating the challenges of growing up, where changes in her body and self-perception make her question everything she thought she knew about herself. Her reflection feels unfamiliar, and she wonders why she struggles to see her own strengths when others seem to shine effortlessly—whether as star athletes, top students, or popular classmates.
BOOKING FALL 2025 Self-Compassion, Body image and Affirmations Workshop with Vanessa Coulbeck: Vanessa Coulbeck believes sport is a powerful platform for girls to express themselves, build resilience, and experience joy. Combined with education, it equips them to challenge stereotypes, dismantle barriers, and lead meaningful change in their communities. She envisions a future where every girl has the confidence, resilience, and opportunities to reach their full potential, with sport serving as a catalyst for growth, empowerment, and equality. The idea for the book series stemmed from her desire to share these messages and resources with a broader audience, and her accompanying workbook includes many of the exercises she regularly teaches.
Running as Fast as We Can Book Club: Liked the podcast last week? Juniors Krista and Elle might have been best friends once. Not anymore. But they do have one thing in common: A distaste for school sports, and need for an athletic extracurricular on their college resumes. When they both show up to the first cross-country practice of the season, it’s a surprise to both of them… This book is about running—but it’s about so much more. If your team or group needs to have open conversations about the hard stuff, from college applications to body image to dealing with the toughest aspects of growing up, this is the book for them.
Goal Setting for Sport & Life: Book this virtual hour-long session with Micha Powell or Molly Hurford to help your athletes set goals for the upcoming season. You’ll also get access to our goal setting worksheets for athletes to download.
COMING SOON: Individual Book Club Packages: Stay tuned for Strong Girl Book Club packages, where we’ll simply send you goodies on a regular basis—even including some early bird editions of upcoming books!
