And as with the books, a large percentage of the net profits from any purchase based on an author’s work will go directly to the author—helping the strong young women who write for Strong Girl Publishing live out their athletic dreams. Mackenzie is in Georgia for cyclocross season right now, and expect to see her all over the cycling news space in the next month as the book hits the shelves.Â
You can also help Mackenzie out by leaving a review of the book over on Strong Girl Publishing right here and on Amazon (even though you didn't purchase there, you're able to review there, and it's a huge help for driving new readers to her work!).
We'd also love it if you could share the book on your social media and spread the word, and share this newsletter with a friend who might love the book!
Woman on a Rampage
by Mackenzie Myatt inspired by Maya Angelou—and the Women of Freeride
I don’t know why I’m surprised
That the argument is so simple
-You aren’t good enough-
No tall tales about lack of time or finances or viewership
Of fans or understanding
Just…
-We don’t think you can-
And that infuriates me.
Because it’s been proven over and over again
That the one thing women can do is
Rise.
On big air
I’ll rise
On thin skin
I’ll rise
On chutes as tall
As the steepest waterfall
Watch me whip your expectations
Into scrambled eggs
Feel them melt
With your mouth
Wide open
Tongue hanging
Like the breath in the back
Of my throat
Before I drop in
And the thrill I get
Careening down the cliff
I want you to feel it too
The joy of overcoming
Of being airborne
Of soaring higher than the eye can see
When you didn’t think we could
And I wasn’t sure when we would
But still
Like air
We rise.
Don’t get left behind.
