Making training efficient for people with busy lives and big goals.
If you follow a lot of pro cyclists on Instagram, you may have noticed a subtle shift for the road/gravel/MTB riders in North America. In the last week or two, it seems like many of them have picked up the pace. They’re back to training (and ‘gramming about it, of course) and that might be the reminder you need to get moving on your own base season. Stuck at home? We got you. Training camp coming up? We’ve got advice for that, too.
But first, a favor: If you haven’t already, follow, rate and review the podcast, and give us a follow on Instagram! (Not sure how to race + review on your phone? We walk you through it here.)
🚴🏻♀️ Daily Routine Training Versus “Optimal Training Environment” for Endurance Athletes. Watching all your buddies head out on training camps? There are pros and cons to camps, just like there are pros and cons to training at home all winter. Over on the blog, we got into an honest look at the ups and downs of both, and while we love a good warm weather training block (we’re in one now!), we also know that there’s something to be said about not losing days to travel and instead truly optimizing your at-home experience.
🤯 How to Use a Smart Trainer in ‘Dumb Mode’: We actually had to figure this out when we were testing out the new Zwift Hub trainer and had a few moments of panic where we had no idea how to use it outside of Zwift. But knowing how to use your smart trainer without wifi is weirdly important, since we see so many rides wrecked by a faulty connection, when really, that doesn’t have to be the case.
🚵♀️ Racing MTB and Evolving as An Athlete with Sandra Walter. We LOVED having Sandra on the podcast. What an inspiration as a long-time XCO World Cup level racer, who has only gotten better and better in the two decades she’s been racing.
😛 Learning to Take Ourselves Less Seriously – And the Joy It Brings! ICYMI, Molly got a jogger for our dog DW (a ‘dogger’). Even she felt a little sheepish about it, despite it being a surprisingly helpful training tool for our current situation, but after some thought, we realized that training shouldn’t always be serious business. It can be silly and fun, too—even while getting in the miles and doing the work.
