Getting Ready for My Own Bumpy Ride...
Hey everyone!
Hope all of you are having an amazing start to the New Year. One of the biggest things I've been really specific about doing this year is keeping a gratitude journal... yes, just like Jen in the most recent Shred Girls book! I learn from my characters. And every day, I'm so grateful that I've been able to write these books that are helping girls find their way onto bikes. As I've been working as a journalist, one of the biggest stories I've written has been about the women and girls who've been fleeing Afghanistan just because they dared to ride their bikes (you can read that story here). Talking to these amazing, brave women reminds me that every time I go out for a ride or run, I should be grateful that I'm able to do so... even when I'm intimidated by a start line, like I am this weekend as I take on my biggest ever athletic challenge, racing a 100-mile trail race (on foot, not on a bike). I'm going to have to channel my inner Jen to keep my eyes on the prize for 30 hours, but also use some of my creative Lindsay energy to keep my brain occupied, and Ali's fearlessness to navigate some of the rocky course.Β
And if you missed it,Β here's what's in store with Shred Girls: Jen's Bumpy Ride: In the third Shred Girls adventure, ultra-perfectionist Jen has to make a big decision: Should she stick with the Shred Girls, or join the team that promises to make her faster? Sheβll have to decide soon, since the clock is ticking down to the next raceβ¦ But first, Jen, Ali and Lindsay will need to make it through their first ever bikepacking trip, riding big miles and camping in the mountains.
