PRE-RACE NERVES, NEW READS, AND ZONES
Hello, hello!
We're going to keep this one brief since I'm busy prepping for my A race of the season/year/decade—my first 100-miler and I have to tell you all, I'm nervous! Pre-race jitters have started early for this one. I talked last week about how I'm getting ready (What the 2 Weeks Before My First 100-Miler Look Like) but I may have to go back and listen to my own advice (here) to try to calm my nerves. Or at least remember what I've been told by many, many experts in many different fields: Pre-race nerves are normal, natural, and are not a 'bad' thing, they're just letting you know you're excited.
So, I'm excited. This race also has prompted this month's Athletic Bookworms pick, Bravey by Alexi Pappas. Not about ultra-running... But it is about how you feel after a major race, no matter how it goes, so I thought it would be a good one to dig into afterwards.
For those of you who are less interested in ultra-endurance, check out our latest podcast, all about our top moments and lessons from CX Worlds, off-season training thoughts, and a simple explanation of zones. Any topics you want to hear about? Respond to this and let us know!
As always, thanks for being part of our crew—here's to a great year ahead!
