DO YOU NEED SOME (NON-SCARY) TIME OFF?
Hello, hello!
Over on the Consummate Athlete site, we're talking about Time Off, Getting Back in the Habit + Why Time Off Is Scary... Both planned and unplanned time off can be terrifying to people for a number of reasons. For me (Molly), there are two main fears I grapple with: If it's planned time off, that I won't be motivated to come back to the sport ever again (silly), and if it's unplanned, that I won't ever be able to do XYZ sport again (also silly, if I'm being rational about it). So, what do we do with that information?
In a recent podcast episode, mental performance consultant Val Hadd PhD explained a lot about simply being aware of our thoughts—and for me, that's made a big difference. Getting aware of those feelings, then being logical about them. The fear is still there a bit, but it's definitely less!
