GET OUT OF A TRAINING RUT
It finally happened: After months of feeling strong + psyched on training, I (Molly) finally hit a training rut. I'd been going along great without races--maybe even a little cocky about the fact that I wasn't feeling demotivated by a lack of finish lines--but a couple weeks ago, I noticed that I was feeling a little twitchy, like my training wasn't feeling as satisfying anymore.
If you're in the same boat, that's understandable: maybe you've been doing a ton of base miles, and your time/mileage is maxed out. Maybe you're struggling with consistency, since you don't have any clear upcoming goal to keep you honest. You may need some time off, or you may need a kick in the butt to get moving again. In either case, having an impartial third party looking over your training and helping you figure out the next best steps to being a better, stronger athlete might be in order. So, what to do? (In my case, I added a fun challenge to my calendar and had a solid 2 week lead into it, and now that I'm finished with it, I am definitely rejuvenated and psyched on training--sometimes, you need a challenge to remind yourself of why you're training.)
We wrote about the ways you can work yourself out of a rut over on the website here: Stuck In a Training Rut? How a Coach Can Help You Out of a Plateau. (You can also check out this article on if you're feeling burned out or just lacking motivation)
And right now, we have a 3-month custom training plan + phone consult package on sale, so if you've been considering coaching or having a more structured schedule, this is an awesome way to test the waters, and get some advice and accountability without feeling like you're committing to too much right now.
Have a happy, active, healthy week!!
