Big Changes and Some Stay-At-Home Thoughts | The Outdoor Edit Newsletter
THE OUTDOOR EDIT NEWSLETTER...
MOVING TO THE CONSUMMATE ATHLETE!
Hellooooooo!
OK, so big news. (Well, big for us, anyway.) We've combined The Outdoor Edit with the Consummate Athlete Podcast and my husband Peter's coaching company, Smart Athlete, all under the umbrella of The Consummate Athlete. So, now instead of heading to The Outdoor Edit for articles, checking out the latest podcast episode at Consummate Athlete, and looking for the right training plan for you at Smart Athlete, they're all in one place.
Why? Two reasons:
First, because our values align around the idea of helping people live an active, adventurous life. Together, we can provide a better experience. We see the Consummate Athlete brand fitting well together in terms of our philosophy around movement fitting into our daily lives, our communities and our families. A Consummate Athlete thrives in any conditions by being able to adapt their movement to fit the weather/group/terrain etc. They are social and healthy while also being athletic.
Second, to create better content for you. This is a chance to focus on writing and producing better content rather than more content—in a given week, Peter and I write more than 20 articles collectively between our sites and we spent a lot of that time overlapping!
You'll still see same type of content you've found on The Outdoor Edit for the past 8 years. I'll still be talking active fashion and my favorite gear (and gear organization tips!) as well as more endurance sport training-specific content. It will continue to be a blend of athlete and athletic lifestyle.
So please take a look at the new site over at ConsummateAthlete.com and please get int ouch and let me know what you think!
This newsletter will continue to dish out the latest on training + adventuring every two weeks, so I'll talk to you soon.
Stay safe,
Molly
DESIGNING HOME FOR HEALTH
OK, so we are all inside/staying home A LOT more and it doesn't seem like that's changing anytime in the immediate future. So, I spent my last couple weeks trying to optimize to the best of my abilities—without spending a lot of money in the process. I wrote about a few of the ways I'm trying to make it easier to train, work in a healthy way, and keep myself as happy as possible when spending a lot more time in the house: Home Staples for Healthy Living Inside
HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?
Pretty damn low. I know some people have more training time but most people are busier than ever between work (IRL or from home), childcare, home-schooling and taking care of a house that ALWAYS has people in it. So training time might actually be lower. But you don't need much to maintain fitness. I dug into what you can be doing to stay healthy and be run-ready when things get back to normal here: The Bare-Minimum Running Maintenance Plan
READ WITH ME
I'm doing a reading from the second book in the Shred Girls series, Ali's Rocky Ride, which is available for pre-order now, on Wednesday for Share the Road. It's happening via Zoom and it's a reading followed by a Q&A. It starts at 10:30 AM, so if you have girls (or boys!) home from school, hop on and join me! Details are here.
