Stress + Working From Home | The Outdoor Edit Newsletter
THE OUTDOOR EDIT NEWSLETTER
Hellooooooo!
Things are really scary right now. I'll just start there, and say that I'm extremely stressed and anxious. But even though my personal situation is feeling terrifying to me, I can't imagine how those of you with children or elderly parents or sick relatives and friends are feeling. So know that my thoughts are with you right now.
I had just written an article early this month that published this week about Using Spring as a Chance to Reset / Refocus. And while obviously, I wasn't anticipating the situation the world is currently in, the point stands: This moment in time is a wake up call, and it's made me very grateful for what I do have, and so much more aware of what really matters to me.
Stay safe,
Molly
PS: We'll be recording some new Q&A episodes of The Consummate Athlete Podcast this week, so feel free to respond to this with any training, racing and nutrition questions!
PPS: Champion Systems is running a RAD contest with two Dirty Kanza entries for women. Check out the info here (and enjoy me making a really goofy face!).
WORKING FROM HOME? SOME ADVICE
A lot of people are now working from home, and I know a ton of advice is floating around. This older article I wrote about what to do when you and your partner are BOTH working at home might have some advice that will help you not feel like punching your significant other. This one has a few easy workouts to do in the house, with no equipment necessary. And this one might give you some tips on how to set up for a healthier workday at your home office. Good luck to anyone who has never done remote work before and is rapidly trying to adjust!
USE THIS TIME TO MEDITATE
Haven't listened to our recent podcast with Laura Wilson about the benefits of meditation? Now might be a good time to listen, and to start your practice. I've been finding that in the last week, guided meditation, gratitude journalling and journalling in general are helping keep my anxiety under a bit more control. (I also wrote this, digging into the research as well: Meditate to Build Mental Toughness as an Athlete.)
