Sleep Smart + Stop Stressing Your Race Calendar! | The Outdoor Edit Newsletter
THE OUTDOOR EDIT NEWSLETTER
Hellooooooo!
Hard to believe it's already February. I, for one, was not prepared for January to fly by the way it has. But it still feels like people are attached to the idea of goals and resolutions, from what I'm seeing in my feeds and in the news. Wonder if the arrival of a new decade has helped spur people past the usual point of dropping out of resolutions?
Whatever the reason, I hope that your training + athletic life is going well in the new year. And in exciting news for me, the second book in the Shred Girls series, Ali's Rocky Ride, is available for pre-order now! It's not out until July, but the more pre-orders and the more the word is spread, the closer we get to my mission of getting thousands of young girls inspired to ride. So, do me a favor and spread the word!
XO,
Molly
SLEEP SMARTER
Sleep is one of my ultimate favorite topics, recovery modalities and times of day. But I know for a lot of people—including myself at different points in time—sleep can be miserable. So, I looked at some of the common blocks to a good night of sleep and I'm talking about what's helped me + others figure out the optimal setup. (Of course, I know that sometimes, like when you have a screaming two-year-old, sleep just is what it is! But we can still be set up so when the chance to bank solid sleep is there, we're ready for it.) Read more: The Blocks Keeping You From a Good Night of Sleep
STRESSED ON YOUR EVENT CALENDAR THIS SUMMER?
Consider taking a page from my playbook if you're stressing about which races to do this summer, or if you're on a tight budget... Or if your big goals are just a little farther out and will take until 2021 to hit. I'm talking about doing more Race Simulations instead of signing up for races that don't get you super excited. I did this a couple times last summer and honestly, those were some of my highlights from the year. Read more: Why the “Race-Simulation” Is My Favorite Thing—and I’ll Be Doing More!
IN OR AROUND TORONTO OR COLLINGWOOD ONTARIO?
Mark your calendars for April 18! I'm hosting the How To Be Outside Speaker Series and it's going to be an amazing night, hearing from 13 rad speakers. Speakers range from professional athletes to local outdoor enthusiasts who’ve started movements of their own to advocates who work on a broader scale to improve awareness around topics like climate change and the power of pedaling. The evening promises to be a total blast, thanks to the amazing speakers listed below. Check out the program and make sure to get your tickets ASAP (and share with a friend!)
