Take Care of YOU This Holiday Season! | The Outdoor Edit Newsletter
THE OUTDOOR EDIT NEWSLETTER
Hellooooooo!
I hope all of you are having an awesome start to the Christmas season—it's super easy to start feeling stressed and panicked about all of the obligations (even the fun ones) that are looming, it's a rough time for your finances potentially, you're at parties where it's super easy to overindulge, and somehow, you're still supposed to be sitting down and manifesting the crap out of some epic New Year's Resolutions. Honestly, what the hell?
So, #1: You are enough, as is. If you need it, read this as your permission to just take a deep breath and chill, maybe cancel something on the schedule (even if it's a workout) and just re-freaking-lax. Take a bath, take a nap, do some chill yoga, daydream for 30 minutes—do something healthy for yourself but just press pause.
And #2: I've been trying and FINALLY succeeding at meditating on the daily for 4 weeks and counting! I'm a huge fan of the free Oak app, using unguided with water sounds for 5 minutes. It's simple, it's soothing, and it really does help chill me out. I'm shifting to doing this more in the morning, but honestly, it's also an awesome way to pause your day—and even if you work an office job, just shut your door (or sneak to the bathroom if you need privacy) and just take those minutes to relax and let your brain reset.
XO,
Molly
ARE YOU GRATITUDE JOURNALING YET?
It's a habit that I go in and out of regularly, but I know that it's worth doing even if it feels a little forced in the moment. And to that end, I put together an article around the science behind it and how using a gratitude journal can actually make us better athletes! Read it here: How a Gratitude Journal Can Make You a Better Athlete (Seriously)
CREATIVITY IN ROUTINE
I'm getting a bit philosophical here, but bear with me. I sometimes struggle between balancing routine to get $hit done with being a creative in my work—but I don't think creativity can thrive without routine. Or, at least, it won't turn into much of anything. Thoughts? Read the whole article: Creativity, Motivation, Routine—Can They Co-Exist?
