Cyclocross Advice + Gift Guide, Offseason + More | Shred Girls Hangouts!
SHRED GIRLS HANGOUTS
Hey Shred Girls—
What a wild ride October and November have been! I've been watching some amazing cyclocrossers crush it at Nationals in Canada and Pan Ams, and of course, I'm enjoying offseason of my own and planning my 2020 riding adventures. Even though the cycling seasons are all kind of winding down, and winter is coming, I feel like my brain is all about bikes lately. (I just got the first preview of the fully illustrated second book in the Shred Girls series—out next summer and I am SO EXCITED.)
I've started working with a couple of Shred Girls IRL already with Shred Girls Coaching and I'm having SO much fun seeing rad young women willing to put in the work and crush it. I have big long-term plans for this (including full kit for my first few clients and potential for a Shred Girls team sometime down the line). I know it's the off season for most of you, but if you want to start 2020 right, check out the information page and get in touch with any questions!
XO,
Molly (and Lindsay, Ali and Jen!)

CX GIFT GUIDE IS HERE + MORE GIFT GUIDES ARE COMING SOON!
It's that time of year again—holiday shopping for Shred Girls. While obviously, a new bike is a pretty great present, there are plenty of smaller gifts (starting at $10) that are fantastic gifts for bike-loving girls. I'm breaking this years' gift guides up by discipline, so if you're not shopping for a cyclocrosser, stay tuned for road, MTB, BMX and a list of gifts under $25! For now, since it is the season for CX, let's talk about my favorite presents to give girls who shred on the cyclocross course! (And of course, the first Shred Girls book is a great present for any young girl who already rides or you wish would try biking!)
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
On going all-in on the sport you love: "I’ve been playing in both disciplines for a while and I felt like I had a hard time at being 100% always. I felt like I was always at 90%. So I decided I wanted to see how good I could be if I put everything into cyclocross. I didn’t want to have that—it wasn’t an excuse because it was real—but I didn’t want to have the excuse that I was tired because I was racing. I wanted to be 100% responsible for what happened to me. I wanted to be fully committed, and if I failed, it wouldn’t be because I was tired or because I was racing too much." -Maghalie Rochette
CURIOUS ABOUT TEAMS + SPONSORSHIPS?
After a lot of years interviewing, managing, racing and coaching, one thing I kept noticing is that from putting together a racer resume to being a good host house guest to approaching sponsors with decent proposals, there aren’t any clear guides to explain how this stuff works. So, I wrote one: “The Athlete’s Guide to Sponsorship: An Athlete Entrepreneur’s Guide to Dreaming Big, Racing Smart & Creating a Reliable Brand for a Long, Successful Career” I’m pretty proud of this book because I genuinely think it can help athletes—especially younger ones—navigate some tricky waters. And I love writing about awkward topics! So... if you’re a cyclist, a parent of an athlete, a team director dealing with athletes, or a coach trying to offer athletes a leg up when it comes to finding a team or sponsor in the world of endurance sport, check it out! Get all the details here (available in paperback and Kindle, or contact me for bulk pricing.)

ABOUT SHRED GIRLS: Lindsay's Joyride
An empowering new series from the cyclist who runs Shred-Girls.com is guaranteed to give readers an adrenaline rush--and the confidence girls gain from participating in sports. It's time to ride and save the day!
Lindsay can't wait to spend her summer break reading comics and watching superhero movies--until she finds out she'll be moving in with her weird older cousin Phoebe instead. And Phoebe has big plans for Lindsay: a BMX class at her bike park with cool-girl Jen and perfectionist Ali. Lindsay's summer of learning awesome BMX tricks with new friends and a new bike turns out to be more epic than any comic book--and it's all leading up to a jumping competition. But some of the biker boys don't think girls should be allowed to compete in BMX. Now it's up to Lindsay, Jen, and Ali to win the competition and prove that anyone can be great at BMX.
