THE OUTDOOR EDIT NEWSLETTER
Hellooooooo!
By the time this comes out, I will be returning from Mont Sainte Ann in Quebec where I'll be spectating and reporting on MTB World Championships and seeing some of my favorite humans, so I thoroughly expect to be sunburned, exhausted, and hopefully ready to hit September hard! I know a lot of you have a final salute to summer this weekend, so fingers crossed that you're all feeling equally tired in a good way and ready to crush the last chunk of 2019. Cyclocross and marathon season is coming for some of you, the offseason and a chance to recalibrate and reset is coming up for a lot of us—and I admit, that rest/recalibrate can be my favorite part of the year because it gives me a chance to really think about what's working and what isn't, and focus on the little things that I miss when I'm in the thick of training.
XO,
Molly
BACK TO SCHOOL
...Yes, I realize I am in my 30s and not going back to school. But as always, I look at the new school year as a second chance at New Years! Also, I love back to school supplies. So, I wrote up this list of back-to-school-inspired athletic gear, from some sweet running clothes that will make you relive your cross-country days to my personal favorite hella cheap planner.
RIDE BIKES GET RAD SWEATSHIRT + COLLAR
New school year, new me. Or rather, old mid-2000s me, with this combo of my Ride Bikes Get Rad sweatshirt (that supports the Shred-Girls.com website!) plus this old-school dicky collar underneath. It's peak 2004 hipster and I love it. (It's also a Noreen Hurford—my mother—approved outfit for her job as a school librarian, if that's more your vibe.)
MEET THE COOLEST CYCLIST I KNOW
Juliet Elliot is one of my heroes in both the sport of cycling and in the field of cycling journalism. She's one of the first and few cyclists to really make a career out of her writing and videography around her riding and she's been a huge source of inspiration for me. If you haven't already, definitely head over to The Consummate Athlete Podcast where we had her on last week—she has some great advice for every type of cyclist, whether you're wondering how to handle gravel grinding, balance parenting with training, or hoping to write about your adventures.
And as always, any training, racing or nutrition questions are welcome—we'll answer on The Consummate Athlete Podcast or I'll answer in a post!

COME TRAIN JANUARY OR MARCH IN GIRONA, SPAIN
If you're interested in going somewhere sunny to put in a week of base miles this winter, SmartAthlete Coaching and I are putting together a couple of training camps. We're still debating timing and exact type of riding (and might add a second camp in Tucson in March), so if you're interested in a week of sunny riding with rad people, take 5 seconds and fill out this super quick Google Form

"Shred Girls: Lindsay's Joyride" is an empowering new series from the cyclist who runs Shred-Girls.com is guaranteed to give readers an adrenaline rush--and the confidence girls gain from participating in sports. It's time to ride and save the day!
Lindsay can't wait to spend her summer break reading comics and watching superhero movies--until she finds out she'll be moving in with her weird older cousin Phoebe instead. And Phoebe has big plans for Lindsay: a BMX class at her bike park with cool-girl Jen and perfectionist Ali. Lindsay's summer of learning awesome BMX tricks with new friends and a new bike turns out to be more epic than any comic book--and it's all leading up to a jumping competition. But some of the biker boys don't think girls should be allowed to compete in BMX. Now it's up to Lindsay, Jen, and Ali to win the competition and prove that anyone can be great at BMX.
