THE OUTDOOR EDIT NEWSLETTER
Hellooooooo!
I've been doing some big mile days on the trails lately, and now that the temperatures are starting to stay regularly warm(ish) in Ontario, it feels like summer is kind of here. It's a great time to be outside, and I'm trying to optimize my schedule to get the best high-quality training that I can. To that end, my coach and I realized that for me, the traditional Saturday long run wasn't working—I almost always have some kind of Shred Girls event or travel on weekends at the moment. So, my long runs are now on Wednesday, and that just means I have to run early and come home and immediately dive back into the work groove. Funny enough, this has made me a better runner, because I'm fueling and hydrating like a boss because I know I can't be a sloth on the couch for the rest of the day. So, let this be a reminder: traditional training plans may not work with your life—optimize for what your schedule currently looks like, and adjust as needed!
ANYWAY. Let's talk about what's new and exciting!
XO,
Molly

I know it is SO EARLY to even start thinking winter training camp, but it'll be here before you know it. If you're interested in going somewhere sunny to put in a week of base miles, Smart Athlete Coaching and I are putting together a couple of training camps. We're still debating locale, timing and exact type of riding, so if you're interested in a week of sunny riding with rad people, take 5 seconds and fill out this super quick Google Form with when/where/what you'd be most interested in! TOP NUTRITION TIPS
I decided I wanted to start doing a series of top-5 tips in the fields that I really find fascinating, and in topics that I’ve researched and written about extensively over the years. So, it makes sense to start with nutrition, since one of my first books, Fuel Your Ride, was all about it—both on and off the bike. These tips are the ones that I find myself using the most for myself, and talking the most about when I’m doing presentations, or answering questions about nutrition basics. I’ll tackle other topics from base training and endurance riding to trail running—and let me know if you have a topic you’d love to see my favorite tips and pieces of advice on! For now, check out this first one, my top 5 Nutrition Tips.
AMAZON FAVOR
If you bought Shred Girls: Lindsay's Joyride, do me a solid and pop over to Amazon to rate and review? (You don't have to have bought it on there to review!) It takes 2 seconds, and the higher it is in the rankings, the more likely it is that non-cycling girls will end up finding it and hopefully getting back on their bikes.

Lindsay can't wait to spend her summer break reading comics and watching superhero movies--until she finds out she'll be moving in with her weird older cousin Phoebe instead. And Phoebe has big plans for Lindsay: a BMX class at her bike park with cool-girl Jen and perfectionist Ali. Lindsay's summer of learning awesome BMX tricks with new friends and a new bike turns out to be more epic than any comic book--and it's all leading up to a jumping competition. But some of the biker boys don't think girls should be allowed to compete in BMX. Now it's up to Lindsay, Jen, and Ali to win the competition and prove that anyone can be great at BMX.
