In case you needed to hear it: "You've Got This." | The Outdoor Edit Newsletter
THE OUTDOOR EDIT NEWSLETTER
Hellooooooo!
I was struggling with what to set as the subject line for this week's email and so, I thought about what I wanted to see on Monday morning in my inbox. Not a list of things to do, or things I should be doing. No—this week I realized what I wanted to see was something kind, a reminder that whatever is going on, I've got this.
So, in case you needed to be reminded: You Got This. Whether you're just facing a massive task list, a big work project, a recovery from injury, a stressful time at home—whatever's going on—you got this.
...OK, with that said, onto what I'm digging this week.
XO,
Molly

LOVING... TYPE 2 FUN
Type 2 fun is the kind of fun that is TERRIBLE in the moment but afterwards, you look back and think, ‘Wow, that was fun.’ (AKA how I felt in my first ultra last summer.) Scott and Jenny Jurek don’t romanticize the effort of trekking through the entire Appalachian Trail in NORTH, January's Athletic Bookworm Pick, which was admittedly what I was worried about… Sometimes the way people describe running can be a little annoying because, let’s be honest, it sucks a lot of the time. And for 2000+ miles, there are going to be a lot of $hitty miles. Read my whole review + favorite moments here

MY NEW HERO
I've been doing a lot of cyclocross coverage for FloBikes, but when I was at the Rally Cycling team launch, I had a chance to sit down and interview Svein Tuft, a total legend in cycling. We got into a bunch about the team, but also had a great talk about things like his daily routine—at the training camp, he was up ahead of all the other racers, running down the beach in their backyard, doing yoga in the sand, and then diving into the frigid Pacific Ocean. And that's a legit normal day for him. Normally, I don't really care much about pro men's cycling (sorry) but this interview is worth watching whether you're into the pro peloton or just love a truly athletic lifestyle!

PERMISSION TO SLOTH
Last night, we had an invite to go to a concert. It absolutely would have been a good time... And we opted to stay in, to not open a bottle of wine, to drink a bunch of tea, eat some chocolate after a healthy dinner, and watch a few episodes of Will & Grace. And to feel 100% OK about it. Sometimes, you just need those chill, uninspiring nights in. LOVED it—and realized it was something I had a lot of guilt around, which is ludicrous.

GIRONA-BOUND
I'm heading to Girona, Spain, today to coach a cycling camp + get some training and writing done and I am super stoked. Girona has been my favorite place to stay in Europe—I've loved visiting the big cities and the small towns, but I've found that of all of them, Girona has the best of both worlds. It's bustling enough and there's a city-ish vibe, but it's not hectic like Paris. (And honestly, flights and accommodations there aren't ridiculously pricey, so if you're looking for a great cycling or running destination, I'd add it to your bucket list.)

ABOUT SHRED GIRLS: Lindsay's Joyride
An empowering new series from the cyclist who runs Shred-Girls.com is guaranteed to give readers an adrenaline rush--and the confidence girls gain from participating in sports. It's time to ride and save the day!
Lindsay can't wait to spend her summer break reading comics and watching superhero movies--until she finds out she'll be moving in with her weird older cousin Phoebe instead. And Phoebe has big plans for Lindsay: a BMX class at her bike park with cool-girl Jen and perfectionist Ali. Lindsay's summer of learning awesome BMX tricks with new friends and a new bike turns out to be more epic than any comic book--and it's all leading up to a jumping competition. But some of the biker boys don't think girls should be allowed to compete in BMX. Now it's up to Lindsay, Jen, and Ali to win the competition and prove that anyone can be great at BMX.
