New Cozy Sweatshirt, Shred Girls Go International + What Are You Eating on the Bike?
SHRED GIRLS HANGOUTS
Hey girls!
115.
What does that number mean? Well, for me, it means 115 DAYS UNTIL LINDSAY'S JOYRIDE IS OUT!! Cue me squealing a little bit, because I am so excited. (Also exciting: I just finished writing the second book in the series, and it is JUICY.)
I'm also counting down the days — 21! — until Joyride150 celebrates Women's Weekend again, just outside of Toronto, ON. I'll be there, and if you can make it to the event, it is a fantastic chance to learn new skills, make new friends, and get rad on the jumplines. I'll see you in the foam pit?
Let's hop to it—what's new and exciting this week...
XO,
Molly (and Lindsay, Ali and Jen!)
PS: Have you pre-ordered Book 1 of the shred Girls Series, Lindsay's Joyride, out May 7, 2019. Share the pre-order link with your friends! And remember, If you pre-order Shred Girls, email me the receipt and I'll send you a signed Shred Girls postcard + Shred Girls bike frame stickers!

NEW SHRED GIRLS SWEATSHIRT
When I posted this Ride Bikes Get Rad sweatshirt on my IG Stories, I got a ton of messages with people really wanting one. So, I made it available in the Shred Girls Shop. It's super cozy and reminds me of a sweatshirt my mom would have gotten me in the early 90s — so in right now! — and I've been living in it at the camp we just finished.
MEET SAKURA, A BMXing SHRED GIRL FROM JAPAN
Sakura (better known as sakura_bmx_rider on Instagram!) is a 10-year-old BMX rider from Tokyo, Japan, and I was so excited that we were able to do an interview with her! Seeing Shred Girls around the world is super inspiring, and her advice is on point. Read the whole interview here.
DIAL YOUR RIDE NUTRITION
What do you eat before, during and after a bike ride? It can be tricky to figure out a healthy, happy balance, so I have some general advice that can get you started. Over on Shred Girls, we have a whole series we're running on the basics that you need to know to ride and race like a boss, without getting too crazy with fad diets or weird food hacks. Don't be afraid to experiment to see if eating something different, or changing your pre-ride/during-ride portions to eat a little more or less works best for you! Read the article on ride nutrition here. (Have a nutrition question? Respond to this and let us know!)

MEET CHELSEA, WHO HAS SOME AMAZING BMX ADVICE
On tackling a new skill: "Flap your arms like a chicken, you’ll be too focused on how dumb you feel to be scared then you’ll just do it hahaha. No but for real, just do it. The longer you think about something the scarier it’s going to be and the more you’re going to overthink it. You have to trust that you know how to do what you’re trying to do then just let yourself do it. Something I tell myself is if anyone has done this then there’s no reason that I can’t do it too. But if you’re not feeling it and you can’t get yourself out of that headspace of what could go wrong, don’t force yourself to do it anyway. Chances are you’re just not ready for whatever you were going for and that’s okay. I want to do countless things every day that I think about, realize that I’m not ready, and don’t go for it. That’s not a failure, what that did is built trust in myself that when I feel ready for something I know I’m actually ready, not that I’m being overly confident. Even though in that moment I didn’t learn a trick, I still progressed because when I am ready to go for the trick I can trust myself that I truly believe I can execute that trick which makes it much easier to stay calm and focus through the fear."

ABOUT SHRED GIRLS: Lindsay's Joyride
An empowering new series from the cyclist who runs Shred-Girls.com is guaranteed to give readers an adrenaline rush--and the confidence girls gain from participating in sports. It's time to ride and save the day!
Lindsay can't wait to spend her summer break reading comics and watching superhero movies--until she finds out she'll be moving in with her weird older cousin Phoebe instead. And Phoebe has big plans for Lindsay: a BMX class at her bike park with cool-girl Jen and perfectionist Ali. Lindsay's summer of learning awesome BMX tricks with new friends and a new bike turns out to be more epic than any comic book--and it's all leading up to a jumping competition. But some of the biker boys don't think girls should be allowed to compete in BMX. Now it's up to Lindsay, Jen, and Ali to win the competition and prove that anyone can be great at BMX.
