A Very Shred Girls New Year: How to Crush 2019, Cycling-Style
SHRED GIRLS HANGOUTS
Hey girls!
I'm pretty stoked that a) it's almost time for the New Year! (I love the holidays but I do admit I really dig the start of the new year, because I'm a huge goal-setter and resolution-maker.) I'm also stoked because b) for a lot of road cyclists, base season is starting, and I'm currently at a camp with some of the best young riders in Canada, including two amazing girls (you can actually read my interview with one of them here!)
Thinking about New Years Resolutions? I have a few key ones here, but if none of them peek your interest, check out this guide to goal-setting as a Shred Girl!
Just a reminder, since pre-orders are key to the success of any book, and I would love to get this into the hands of tons of girls, not just ones who already love riding bikes... Make sure you've pre-ordered Book 1 of the shred Girls Series, Lindsay's Joyride, out May 7, 2019. Share the pre-order link with your friends! And remember, If you pre-order Shred Girls, email me the receipt and I'll send you a signed Shred Girls postcard + Shred Girls bike frame stickers!
Let's hop to it!
XO,
Molly (and Lindsay, Ali and Jen!)
RESOLUTION: TRY A NEW SPORT
I'm a HUGE fan of trying all different types of cycling. So whether you're thinking about getting out on your first ever bike ride (advice on that here) or you're already a roadie/cyclocrosser/MTBer/BMXer, I dare you to try a new type of riding this year. In the first Shred Girls book, Jen is a road rider who tries out BMX and falls in love, and I was definitely the same! So get out and try a new type of cycling this year — I guarantee it'll help your main discipline!
RESOLUTION: STAY MOTIVATED
This is a tough time of year for those Shred Girls who live in places where winter is actually cold and snowy. Luckily, real life Shred Girl Carys Reid has some words of wisdom for getting through those tough rides. (And hopping into a spin class or checking out an indoor bike park are great ways to pedal inside—and make new friends!)
RESOLUTION: EAT SMART
Notice that I didn't say diet? I think it's SO important to eat enough in order to Fuel Your Ride (I've written a whole book about it, in fact!) And over on Shred Girls, I'm doing a nutrition series for teenagers and younger riders because young riders have different needs and challenges. Check it out, and let me know if you have any nutrition Qs!
RESOLUTION: BE BRAVE
There's a reason that, at the end of every interview, I ask real life Shred Girls the same thing: When faced with a scary new challenge or obstacle, how do you tackle it? World Champion Kate Courtney had some fantastic advice she offered during our interview: “You start to take away some of those skills and have more confidence in your ability. The best way to combat fear: prepare yourself.” (Read the whole thing here!)
RESOLUTION: READ MORE

ABOUT SHRED GIRLS: Lindsay's Joyride
An empowering new series from the cyclist who runs Shred-Girls.com is guaranteed to give readers an adrenaline rush--and the confidence girls gain from participating in sports. It's time to ride and save the day!
Lindsay can't wait to spend her summer break reading comics and watching superhero movies--until she finds out she'll be moving in with her weird older cousin Phoebe instead. And Phoebe has big plans for Lindsay: a BMX class at her bike park with cool-girl Jen and perfectionist Ali. Lindsay's summer of learning awesome BMX tricks with new friends and a new bike turns out to be more epic than any comic book--and it's all leading up to a jumping competition. But some of the biker boys don't think girls should be allowed to compete in BMX. Now it's up to Lindsay, Jen, and Ali to win the competition and prove that anyone can be great at BMX.
