The Outdoor Edit: Shred Girls Pre-Order (!), Intentions, Happiness + Athletic 1sts
Hey everyone—
I keep saying "in November, we have a lot of time for XYZ," forgetting we're already 1/3 of the way done with the month... That means I'm working on a) starting my own holiday shopping since we're gone most of December and b) working on gift guides for The Outdoor Edit. So let me know if there's any gift giving advice you particularly need, or if there's a gift that you keep buying for outdoorsy people that's always super well-received!
But we're not quite there yet, so let's talk about what I'm psyched on this week!
XO, Molly
PS: Respond to this email or hit me up on Instagram... I would love to hear from you all, what you're into, what you want to see more of, etc., so feel free to respond to this and let me know!
1 SHRED GIRLS PRE-ORDER IS OPEN
*Cue me freaking out*

An empowering new series from the cyclist who runs Shred-Girls.com is guaranteed to give readers an adrenaline rush--and the confidence girls gain from participating in sports!
It's time to ride and save the day!
Lindsay can't wait to spend her summer break reading comics and watching superhero movies--until she finds out she'll be moving in with her weird older cousin Phoebe instead. And Phoebe has big plans for Lindsay: a BMX class at her bike park with cool-girl Jen and perfectionist Ali.
Lindsay's summer of learning awesome BMX tricks with new friends and a new bike turns out to be more epic than any comic book--and it's all leading up to a jumping competition.
But some of the biker boys don't think girls should be allowed to compete in BMX. Now it's up to Lindsay, Jen, and Ali to win the competition and prove that anyone can be great at BMX.
PS: If you pre-order, email me the receipt and I'll send you a signed Shred Girls postcard + Shred Girls bike frame stickers so you can still give it as a Christmas present!
2 FLOW + HAPPINESS
I'm really loving diving into the science of flow state from the man who did the main research on the topic, and what I'm really loving is how much finding flow in work + life doesn't just relate to being good at something or being in that kind of groove, it also can mean a more satisfying life day to day!
"What I 'discovered' was that happiness is not something that happens. It is not the result of good fortune or random chance. It is not something that money can buy or power command. It does not depend on outside events, but, rather, on how we interpret them. Happiness, in fact, is a condition that must be prepared for, cultivated, and defended privately by each person." - Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in FLOW
(We're reading it this month in the Athletic Bookworms and every piece I get through has had a gem like this one!
3 FIRST TIME RUNNERS
This week on The Consummate Athlete Podcast, we talked to a running coach about getting into running and tackling your first marathon, so over on The Outdoor Edit, I went deep into my photo archives to pull up all of my marathon 'firsts.' They ... aren't pretty, and the fashion/sportswear is dubious. But his advice is gold, so check it out!
4 INFLUENCE
I really loved Cait Flanders' blog post talking about thinking critically about what influences us, across all areas of life. (It made me realize a lot of my old athletic identities have been, to some extent, influenced by the people around me, and I'm just now starting to come into my own as an adult who kind of sort of knows what she actually loves doing and wants to do!)
