Hey Girls! Who's Ready for Spring & Shredding Outside? 😁🚲☀

Hey Shred Girls!
I just wanted to catch everyone up on how the Shred Girls are doing. The first book in the series, Lindsay's Joyride, will be out next winter, and we are STOKED for it! The book is getting an update—the illustrations are off-the-charts amazing—and it's going to be a super fun launch. There will be bike park sessions! In the meantime, we've been posting tons of Real Life Shred Girls with stories and advice, plus some rad videos and skills tutorials over on the Shred-Girls.com website. We've also been hitting the bike park since it's hard to BMX outside in the winter, and the Joyride150 women's weekend brought together a bunch of the Real Life Shred Girls so they could meet and learn some skills from each other. It was amazing! I hope all of you are finding time and places to ride even when the weather isn't great—message me with your favorite stories from winter cycling, on here or over on the Shred.Girls Instagram page! And one last favor: if you know a girl you'd love to see hop on a bike and get shredding, pass this newsletter along to her, or send her to Shred-Girls.com to join in on the fun. Riding bikes is way more fun when we get more girls out riding!
XO,
Molly (And Lindsay, Ali, and Jen)

Shredding with Desiree Smith, one of the Real Life Shred Girls, at Joyride150 in Ontario. "If you’re intimidated by something, walk through it first so you don’t have any surprises when you ride. If possible, take your bike with you and push it through so you can see how it handles things (I found this really helpful when learning how to drop into a quarter, seeing that the bike could roll over the coping without anything hitting the coping was very reassuring). If you know someone who can ride it, ask them to try it slowly so you can watch. Once you’re ready, try it slowly so you can get comfortable."

Ellen Noble, silver medalist in U23 Cyclocross Worlds, is learning new skills on the BMX bike in Joyride150, and we talk about the imporantance of being a beginner, trying new things, and how the heck she figured out the new 180 turn on the halfpipe so quick!

Meet Shred Girl IRL Kennedy Adams
Cyclocrosser and occasional roadie Kennedy Adams has been riding since she was a kid, and at 18, she's crushing it on her collegiate team. Her best advice: "Be a student of the sport. You will always learn something new in the sport of cycling. Be open to it, and don’t be afraid to ask questions if something is scary or confusing! I was very shy when I first started riding. I realized as I met more people, that they are a great resource. Learn from others’ experiences. There will always be someone willing to ride an obstacle with you or explain something that you’re curious about. Always be open to advice and constructive criticism, it helps you too see yourself from a different perspective. Most importantly, make sure you are having fun! Enjoying riding your bike is always the goal."
